Gingivitis- Causes, Symptoms and Treatment

 Teeth are the symbols for health. Tooth is made up Dentine and externally it is covered by a layer called Enamel, the hardest substance in the body. Inside the tooth is Pulp which contains number of blood vessels, supplying blood to the tooth. The first gum layer adherent to the tooth is known as Gingiva. The root of the tooth is kept in position in the bone socket with the help of Para dental Ligament.  If the Gingiva is infected and is neglected without taking treatment, and subsequently the ligament and the root are also got infected, finally, the entire tooth will fall down like a wall. The infection of gingival is called Gingivitis. Dental Plaque: After rising from the bed in the morning, the first layer that appears on the tooth is called Plaque. There are number of chances for the bacteria to accumulate on this plaque. Unless we remove this plaque from time to time, it gets hardened and sticks tightly to the tooth and appears as yellow in colour. Causes of Gingivitis:     1. Presence of long teeth since birth in some persons. Due to this the gap between the upper and the lower teeth is decreased and the teeth upper edges are constantly rubbing against one another, leading to the damage of the gums and infection occurs in gums.  2. Breaking of tooth in accidents, leading to infection of the pulp.  3. Irregular tooth formation: There are gaps in between the teeth and f food particles get accumulated there leading to infection of the gums.  4. Tobacco smoking spoils the gums and infected by the bacteria.  5. Stomach bloating – Causes

  Bloating of stomach is mainly due to irregular diet habits. These diet habits produce gas at higher rate than normal. Distension of abdomen is mainly due to Irritable Bowel syndrome (IBS), an intestinal disorder of unknown cause, produce gas which in turn causes Bloated Stomach.  Causes of Stomach bloating (Abdominal Distension):  1. Before menstrual cycle in females (Pre-Menstrual tension) :  The symptoms are Swelling of the body [due to water retention]  Tightening of legs and hands [Here the intestines are not involved].  Hormones play role to bring the fluid levels in the body to the balanced level in the body.  2. After taking food:  If there is distension of the abdomen [stomach], that means there is disturbance in the digestive process in the intestines. If the food is taken in haste, the pressure in the stomach increases and production of gasses also begin to increase.  3. The buffalo’s milk:  There is deficiency of enzyme, “lactose” in people of Asia, Africa and Latin Americans. This deficiency of enzyme leads to bloating of abdomen. The action of lactose is to break the sugar present in the milk. 1 OZ (28ml) of undigested milk of produces 1 gallon of gas.  4. Cereals:  Wheat produces distension of stomach.
